A Jerusalem bagel, known locally as "ka'akat," is a traditional Middle Eastern bread that differs significantly from the more widely known bagels. Unlike the round, doughnut-shaped New York-style bagel, the Jerusalem bagel is elongated and oval-shaped, resembling a large ring. Jerusalem bagels are lighter and airier in texture, with a slightly crisp crust and a soft interior. They are less dense than New York-style bagels and have a mildly sweet flavor. Served with za'atar, a Middle Eastern spice blend, or with other dips and spreads such as hummus, labneh, or olive oil.
